3D websites - Possibilities
Adding a third dimension to websites offers a whole new world of opportunities where visitors become part of the website itself and employees are suddenly able to actively help and guide people that look up information online.
. display information in a 3D space
. 3d product models
. content manipulation by visitor
. visitors can interact with eachother
. active presence of an employee in the website
. visitors are part of the website itself
The website's information can be presented in a 3D space. This way the visitor is offered a complete overview of the contents of everything that is to be found inside the website instead of having to navigate through menu's and having to search for hyperlinks.
The information does not have to be limited to pages with text and images. You can just as well present 3d models of a product and can even demonstrate how they work.
The contents doesn't have to be static either. The visitor can move things, change things or set a machine to work or start a simulation.
The contents doesn't have to be limited to what is visible. The visitor could for instance look at a 3D graph, walk around it or enter it and get a new perspective or enter a new level of detail.
Visitors don't have to find their own way. They can meet others during their visit and can communicate, discuss or help eachother. Or they can be welcomed by a representative of the company to help them find their way. The visitor of the website thus becomes a vital part of the website itself.
People could be invited to participate in events. Think of product presentations, seminars, discussion groups, client support and why not online parties or contests.
